A digital twin of the Dubova border sector
KondorCAD LandSurv placed 2nd in Europe in the Copernicus Border Surveillance Service Evolution Prize, organised by Frontex — the European Border and Coast Guard Agency — ahead of GMV (Spain), behind IGiK (Poland).
Our entry built a measurable digital twin of a 21 km border sector at Dubova (Mehedinți), Romania, modelled how easily the terrain can be crossed (permeability), and analysed surveillance-tower placement using line-of-sight, comparing how additional towers cover permeable corridors. Winners were announced at the "10 Years of Copernicus" event, Warsaw, 2025.
On 17 September 2026, KondorCAD LandSurv returned to Warsaw for "Digital Twin Frontiers: Space for Borders", Frontex's flagship event on Copernicus-powered digital twins for EU border security — gathering 200+ participants from EU institutions, member-state border authorities, industry, investors and academia.
Field data: 35+ RTK drone flights, ground control every 500 m, georeferenced in EPSG:3844 (Stereo 70). Track record: 100+ projects.
Capabilities
Drone mapping — high-resolution aerial capture with RTK drones: orthophotos, DSM and dense point clouds, georeferenced. Digital twin — a measurable 3D replica of the terrain, the base layer for every analysis. GIS — vector layers, classification and INSPIRE-ready databases. Permeability analysis — modeling how easily terrain can be crossed, mapping corridors, obstacles and vulnerable sectors. In-field actions — ground control, verification and deployment support.
